Sony taps cutting-edge techniques for wide product range

Article Abstract:

Sony Corp of Japan has launched its latest lines of camcorders in 1999. The company's mainstream products include six DV models, two Digital8 models and three analog Hi8 models. The company is targetting total sales of 4.1 million units for analog and digital models in 1999. Sony has incorporated its latest technology in most of the models including the NightShot function for shooting under low intensity of light, XR technology for improving imaqe quality and Laser AVLINK system for quick playback of images by optional cordless audio-video receiver.

VC-C4/C4R cameras, VB101 servers

Article Abstract:

Canon Inc's debuting VC-C4 and VC-C4R communication cameras provide horizontal viewing angles from 47.4 degrees to three degrees. The products are each equipped with a lens unit that incorporates two aspherical lens elements for fewer chromatic aberrations and less distortion. Their resolution reaches 460 horizontal lines and 350 vertical lines. Meanwhile, Canon also launched the network camera server, VB101. It allows the inexpensive transmission of live images across the Internet, and remote monitoring using a local area network.

VL-MX1 digital video camera

Article Abstract:

Sharp Corp introduces its VL-MX1 digital video camera that incorporates a 1.33-million-pixel CCD. This allows for high-quality still images with 1,280 x 960 pixels. Through a Secure Digital card or a multimedia card, users can download still images. A highly sensitive zoom microphone that can capture remote sounds is included in the operational accessory kit. The zoom microphone moves in conjunction with adjustments of the zoom lens. VL-MX1 costs $2,136.
