Article Abstract:

DVD-Audio offers many of the performance characteristics of the Compact Disc and at the same time has the advantage over CD of bigger capacity and an ability to record with large bit rates. DVD-Audio also offers superior sound quality and multiple-channel sound reproduction capabilities. These advantages are expected to make the format more popular than CD, with estimates putting the potential DVD-Audio market at more than 100 million units a year.
