Spring Comdex Preview: Big Three Attempt to Carve up PC Market

Article Abstract:

IBM, Apple and AT&T will dominate the microcomputer scene at the 1984 COMDEX-Spring. Many of the smaller manufacturers will be most concerned about maneuvering around IBM's marketing blitz. Suppliers of portables are concerned about IBM's entry into that market. IBM is also releasing new software products for micros. Apple, with the success of its Macintosh, is offering some competition to IBM. AT&T is expected to introduce more UNIX software and one or more new microcomputers in the under $5,000 range. Innovation and lower prices are expected in the portable computer market. Trends in software include ease of use and integration.
