Toshiba, NTT Data form digital broadcasting alliance

Article Abstract:

Toshiba Corp and NTT Data Corp have formed a corporate partnership to develop, produce, market and service digital terrestrial broadcasting systems. The alliance is intended to capture a substantial market share in the area of digital terrestrial television broadcasting systems by combining the strengths of the two firms. Under the alliance, the companies will manufacture complete systems for digital broadcasting. Toshiba will be responsible for information control and management systems, while NTT will be handle information processing systems.

Sony showcases advanced products, systems in Hong Kong Simulation Room

Article Abstract:

Sony Corp of Hongkong Ltd. Broadcast and Professional Products Asia Div inaugurated its Simulation Room designed to showcase Sony's new products and systems for potential customers throughout Asia. Set up in the company's headquarters in Hong Kong, the Simulation Room is a private demonstration and training suite to improve system evaluation, technology transfer and opinion exchange. The suit features CineAlta HD products, Digital Asset Management System and NewBase system.

Digital TV generates flurries of R&D, M&A in Asian broadcasting

Article Abstract:

The BroadcastAsia 2000 event in Singapore featured exhibits from 807 countries representing over 40 countries, an increase of 30% from 1998. Originally a biennial show, BroadcastAsia will become an annual event starting in 2001. The exposition, which is Asia's biggest international broadcast equipment show, was held simultaneously with CommunicAsia to stress the convergence of broadcast and computer communications as the shift to digital formats develops in the region.
