Toshiba Gears Up for Ground Wave Digital TV Broadcasting

Article Abstract:

Toshiba Corp of Japan, in anticipation of ground wave digital television broadcasting, plans to sell a digital TV with a digital tuner in 1998 or early 1999. Ground wave digital TV broadcasts, which is expected to begin in the fall of 1998, is expected to result in the mixing of satellite broadcast and cable systems in the market. Toshiba will unveil a "1080 future-ready" TV that will have a digital TV terminal that will make HDTV-viewing a possibility with the aid of a set-top box.

Rising digital tide shapes new terrain in household electronics

Article Abstract:

Digitalization is rapidly erasing the conventional barriers between different type of consumer and home electronic equipment. The trend is resulting in the increasing convergence of communication and computer technologies as well as mobile communication and audio-video equipment. The trend is also particularly strong in the area of home networks where traditional home appliances that are capable of linking with other equipment are already available.

Matsushita powers up digital camcorder campaigns abroad

Article Abstract:

Matsushita Electric Industrial Company Ltd's PAL-compatible Digital Videocassette (DVC) camcorders are being marketed by the Japanese company primarily in Europe and in some countries in Asia such as China. The company is also effecting marketing activities in South and Central America and the Middle East. In Nov 1997, Matsushita introduced its 3-CCD NV-DX1000 DVC camcorder for European markets.
