VisuaLink TC5000EX100 TV conference system

NEC Corp introduces the $15,741 VisuaLink TC5000EX100 TV conference system. The system uses Internet protocols and is compatible with local area networks (LAN) and CATV, as well as ISDN, personal circuit and satellite circuit. With a built-in LAN interface 10 and 100 BASE-T, the TC5000EX100 is capable of sending images and sounds to the network. It has a maximum transmission capacity of 2 Mbps and 384 Kbps or more in 30 frames/sec. It can also transmit two moving pictures or a moving picture and a still picture simultaneously.

Matsushita Electric Industrial Company Ltd has introduced the DVD-L50 portable DVD player, which is one of the smallest DVD models in the world, weighing 940 g with the battery. To be sold under the Panasonic brand, the DVD-L50 features a 5-in LDC monitor with a 16:9 aspect ratio for wide- screen images. It is also equipped with built-in digital optical output terminals for the reproduction of Digital Theater System digital sound. The DVD-L50 has a retail price of 125,000 yen or $1,042.
