With solid profits in TVs, VCRs, Funai next taps information

Article Abstract:

Funai Electric Company Ltd Pres Tetsuro Funai believes that strengthening the company's line of information equipment, such as printing machines, is a necessary step in improving its overall business position. The company, which derives more than 70% of its sales from VCRs, color TVs and other related products, is already producing as much as 1 million units of ink- jet printers annually. Funai is in the process of developing a laser printer that it hopes to market as soon as possible.

Funai Electric steps up sales of combination TV-DVD players sets

Article Abstract:

Funai Electric Co Ltd reported Y179.7 billion in sales for the period ended Jun 2000 on a consolidated basis, a rise of 9% over the same period in 1999. The firm's operating profit increased 37% to Y19.6 billion, and recurrent profit rose 42% to Y19.5 billion. Profit for the current period is Y12.3 billion, an increase of 34%. According to Funai Pres Tetsuro Funai, the company intends to maintain its upward trend despite a slowdown in profit and profitability growth.

Funai adds printer line, expands production facility

Article Abstract:

Funai Electric Co will increase its production of affordable models of video cassette recorders and televisions in 2000 in an effort to increase market share in North America. The Japanese consumer electronics manufacturer also plans to increase production of ink-jet and laser printers and reinforce efforts in selling digital audio-video, information and communications products.
