With value-added extras, Sony focuses on market's top end

Article Abstract:

Sony Corp makes and markets a broad range of VCRs with emphasis on higher- end models which feature the capability to record Hi-Fi stereo audio. Sony is promoting its more profitable VCR lines by focusing on value-added products in areas where sales volumes are rising slowly and where prices are declining. In its VCR business, Sony is pursuing three basic business strategies which are; to increase market share by increasing sales volumes, to offer products in the best-selling price range and by offering more value-added products.

JVC fine-tunes A/V receiver series, composing models for home networks

Article Abstract:

The Victor Company of Japan Ltd (JVC) is planning to enhance the performance of affordable audio-video (A/V) receiver models to seek a larger share of the growing market. At the same time, the company aims to introduce unique deluxe models at the top end of the market. JVC is carrying out the plan through the adoption of the Surround technology. The company has launched two more models in its A/V receiver series which brings the total of such products to six.

Sony leads DTV market with WEGA series

Article Abstract:

Sony Corp is a leading player in the digital TV market with its WEGA series flat TV. In Oct 1998, the company launched in the US a DTV model that is sold for around $9,000. Sony operates four production facilities situated in Singapore, Japan, the US and Europe, but these factories do not produce all sizes. The company is experiencing strong sales across the globe, except South America and Russia.
