Morphological systems for multidimensional signal processing

Article Abstract:

The basic theory and applications of mathematical morphology, a set theoretic approach to image analysis, are reviewed, in an attempt to demonstrate the quantification of geometrical structure in signals by the concepts of mathematical morphology and to highlight the ways in which morphological systems enrich the theory and applications of multidimensional signal processing.

Fast 2-D signal processing

Article Abstract:

Linear maps on a 2-D signal space are considered and connections between fast processing and types of kernel separability are developed. Companion systolic architectures that efficiently realize fast forms are explored, and the transfer functions of fast 2-D processors analyzed and illustrated through examples.
