Computer-aided programming for message-passing systems: problems and a solution

Article Abstract:

The programming of multiprocessing systems is made more difficult by the increasing number of processors and the increasing complexity of problems to be solved. The development of parallel programs is aided by program development tools; such a toll is described. The tool performs scheduling, inserts communication primitives, and generates performance estimates and other measures of program quality to assist programmers in the improvement of algorithms and programs.

An Integrated Robot System Architecture

Article Abstract:

Industrial robots operate under control of digital computers. This has a significant effect on industrial productivity. Automation combines several fundamental capabilities like manipulation, sensing, intelligence and data processing. System architecture of a second generation robot system is discussed. The system has been in use for quite some time. A block diagram shows joint serve attachment.

Robot Programming

Article Abstract:

Robots are quite versatile. They are applied to a large variety of tasks. Their programming plays a significant role in their development. Several robot programming systems are in use. Approaches to robot programming are discussed. Lack of understanding of the basic issues in robot programming presents a problem in programming development. Several program listings are included.
