Efficient high-level programming on the AMT DAP

Article Abstract:

Fortran-Plus was developed for the AMT DAP using the Virtual Systems Architecture, a methodology to implement a range of languages over different types of hardware. The objectives in Fortran Plus were to support matrices and vectors of any size, thus raising significantly the level of the language; be compatible with Fortran 77; have performance at least as good as existing codes; not require any knowledge of DAP on the part of the programmer; and make it possible for the programmer to take control over mapping of problems. Fortran 77 is the basis of Fortran Plus, which also has extensions that use DAP's parallel processing capabilities.

Our memories, our selves

Article Abstract:

Neuroscientists have expended a great deal of effort investigating the means by which synaptic activity in the brain is changed by experience. An effective drug to combat memory loss is still years away. Scientists are also at work on drugs to suppress memory.
