Lightning and the heart: fractal behavior in cardiac function

Article Abstract:

Living systems, like physical systems, can be described by fractal algorithms. Such fractal descriptions can represent chaotic, dynamical biological systems as constrained and orderly, and can be useful for modeling biological phenomena. An example in which fractal geometry is used to explain myocardial flow heterogeneity via delivery of blood through an asymmetrical fractical branching network is presented.

The unifying role of the coarray in aperture synthesis for coherent and incoherent imaging

Article Abstract:

A conceptual framework for far-field imaging apertures that makes use of the ideas of the coarray of an aperture is presented. The coarray concept also provides insight into the aperture synthesis process. Two-dimensional imaging arrays are presented by performance in the imaging of spatially incoherent and coherent source distributions.

Energy Function and the Synthesis of Two-Variable Lossless n-Ports

Article Abstract:

Energy functions are employed effectively for deriving basic information about multivariable system functions. A synthesis of two-variable homogeneous n-ports is described. It is more expedient to deal with energy functions.
