On the block least squares adaptive digital filters realized using the fast Fourier transform

Article Abstract:

Several frequency-domain block least-squares (FBLS) algorithms are developed that efficiently use fast Fourier transforms (FFTs) and overlap-save sectioning to provide superior computational efficiency in resolving block-based least squares problems. The performance of the FBLS algorithms is demonstrated on the block realization of an adaptive digital filter and in computer simulations. Development and application of the algoritms are described.

Comments on 'A real-time high-resolution technique for angle-of-arrival estimation.' (technical)

Article Abstract:

Systolic arrays are inaccurate when used for subspace estimation in high-resolution methods. The computation of the Eigenvalue Decomposition (EVD) value of a matrix is more effective than the QR factorization algorithm for determining noise subspace because it requires fewer operations and can theoretically provide the directions of arrival. Systolic arrays performing the EVD may be used to speed the required computations.

Least Squares Adaptive Antenna for Angle of Arrival Estimation

Article Abstract:

It is difficult to estimate the angle of arrival in a low-angle tracking radar environment. The problem is further complicated by the close proximity of the target to the reflecting surface. The least squares formulation of an adoptive antenna is described. It helps in estimating the angle of arrival. A block diagram shows the adaptive antenna scheme.
