A University-Industry-Government Paradigm for Joint Research

Article Abstract:

The Stanford University Center for Integrated Systems brings together the university, industry, and the government for research in VLSI systems and to educate new leaders. Nineteen corporations have contributed over $14 million for research into projects that will bring the next generation of computers. The Microelectronics and Information Sciences Center is another research cooperative of the University of Minnesota's Institute of Technology.

Initiative targets government agencies

Article Abstract:

The National Technology Initiative (NTI) started in early 1992 to foster better relations between the industry and government entities. Aconsolidation of efforts between the two sectors can immensely benefit the commercialization of technology. NTI also supervised several regional conferences as part of an overall plan to fortify the US' competitiveness. NTI's programs will hopefully maximize federal technology resources.

Alternative dispute resolution in government

Article Abstract:

Alternative dispute resolutions (ADR) are effective techniques used to settle construction disputes in government contracts. ADR involves methods such as negotiation, mediation, minitrials, dispute reviews boards and binding and nonbinding arbitration. Although the process has only been used in limited occasions, it is expected to work well when two parties are coming to a settlement.
