A new look at motor protection

Article Abstract:

Article 430 of the 1999 National Electrical Code (NEC) provides information on computing motor-circuit conductor, motor-branch circuits, short-circuit and ground-fault protection. Data from the NEC has been tabulated for individual single-phase and polyphase motors together with their applicable multipliers. Caution is advises against using the 'hard start' option without prior installation of a 'normal start' option since there is the possibility of damaging the motor windings.

Article Abstract:

The design of electrical and sprinkler distribution systems in retail distribution centers must be coordinated with the conveying systems and their support. Often, a substructure grid is installed below the building roof structure to support conveyors. Distribution centers can also be designed for optimal column spacing and the racks or conveyors can be fitted to the buildings. A trapeze system is not needed for the utility wirings.
