A people's century

Article Abstract:

Buchanan & Curwen of Surrey, United Kingdom, has been in operation for 100 years, and provides electrical services for a variety of rich and famous clients in London. The electricians employed by the company have to be able to communicate effectively with clients and staff alike. During its years of operation, company executives concede that the latest recession was the hardest to deal with, because every type of customer had to cut back on their budgets. The turnover for 1995 is expected to reach 3.1 million pounds sterling.

The end of the world as we know it

Article Abstract:

The construction industry went through a turbulent period between 1986 and 1996, with the consequence that electrical contractors have been coping with great difficulties. One change to emerge is contractors' involvement in design, which includes prefabrication and off site designing. Future training must incorporate modern needs and employment practices must be updated.
