A study on shelf space allocation and management

Article Abstract:

A model for allocating shelf space is modified to an integer programming model to make it applicable in the retail trade. When applied to shelf space allocation, the comprehensive optimization model must be constructed so that it represents the actual conditions of the store. Since the management strategy may affect the operations of space allocation and their performance, different approaches for system development are suggested. This makes it imperative that the values of all parameters of the shelf space allocation model be determined.

Inco wants Voisey's Bay talks resumed

Article Abstract:

Inco Ltd of Toronto, Ontario, is seeking the resumption of its talks with the Newfoundland government regarding its plan to develop the $4.3-billion Voiseys' Bay nickel project in Labrador. The province refused to issue a mining permit to Inco after the mining company reneged on its promise to build a $1-billion smelter to process the Labrador ore. Inco said the steep drop in world nickel prices would make such smelter economically unviable. However, Inco is now open to constructive solutions to get the nickel ore project started.
