A summary of Construction Congress V

Article Abstract:

A summary of the major highlights and trends in the construction industry which were discussed at Construction Congress V is presented. Construction Congress V was sponsored by the American Society of Civil Engineers and was held on Oct 5-7, 1997 in Minneapolis, MN. One of the speakers was, Wayne T. Day, president of the Mechanical Contractors Assn of America. He spoke about computerization, technical innovations and employee training. He noted that computer technology has changed the nature of construction from bidding and estimating to communication among all the members of the project team.

Design engineer/contractor bankruptcy: considerations for debtor and creditors

Article Abstract:

The likelihood that a construction-related debtor or creditor will experience bankruptcy is rising. In spite of this, there exists the apparent lack of consciousness regarding not only its frequency, but also of the determining factors involved and the bankruptcy code with its functional sections, through which a debtor could seek relief from a creditor. With this information, professionals would be able to effectively conduct bankruptcy proceedings, such as liquidation and reorganization.
