Advanced manufacturing technology selection: a strategic model for learning and evaluation

Article Abstract:

A framework was developed to assess a company's investment justification problem in advanced manufacturing technologies. Implementation of the framework in an Indian electronics manufacturing firm has shown its effectiveness in accelerating the process of effective management of knowledge as distinct resource for value creation and maintenance. The importance of considering the different levels of management in the decision making process was established with regards to the selection and evaluation of Advanced Manufacturing Technology.

Evolution of a decision support system for human resource planning in a petroleum company

Article Abstract:

A decision support system model helps management in effective decision making relative to human resource allocation and recruitment. The model allows for on-line access and retrieval, transforms and augments internal data through statistical analysis and generates constraint-factored optimal solutions. Application studies using ABC Petroleum data reveal a DSS model that is consistent and effective in human resource planning and reducing project delays.

Multi-attribute decision model using the analytic hierarchy process for the justification of manufacturing systems

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to examine an application of the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) in justifying manufacturing systems. The study assumes that traditional approaches in evaluating advanced manufacturing systems are inadequate in responding to changes in the field. Results show that the AHP accounts for intangible variables not considered by traditional processes. In addition, the AHP exhibits validity as a justification for manufacturing systems.
