Process reengineering: a review of enablers

Article Abstract:

Ever-emerging technological innovations have brought about an ongoing transition from the industrial to post-industrial society that marks the beginning of a second industrial revolution. Process reengineering represents a technique that counters the existing industrial paradigm and brings about the creation of new and radical processes to enhance business performance. A study analyzes the concept of process reengineering, its enablers and suggests how an entity should go about implementing process reengineering.

Agile manufacturing: a framework for research and development

Article Abstract:

A framework was developed which can be used in designing agile manufacturing systems (AMSs). The framework initially calls for the integration of design, process planning and scheduling. Such step leads to enterprise level integration which promotes effective and efficient implementation of AMSs. Concurrent engineering, virtual enterprise, physically distributed manufacturing systems and rapid partnership formation are strategic decision areas that can be considered in creating AMSs.

The role of information technology in business process reengineering

Article Abstract:

The role of information technology (IT) in terms of the IT function and the IT technologies themselves are critical in the success of any overall business process reengineering effort. A study therefore developed a conceptual model and strategic framework to illustrate the vital role of information systems in BPR and the kind of information systems needed to incorporate functional areas in manufacturing to reengineer production processes.
