Arrow Molded Plastics dumps DOE for SPO

Article Abstract:

Arrow Molded Plastics successfully enhanced productivity and reduced machine down time following its implementation of sequential process optimization (SPO), with the help of the Ultramax Method software. In the past, the company relied heavily on the 'design of experiments' method during the injection molding process. However, this approach proved to be costly, necessitated the interruption of production processes and generated a lot of waste. With SPO and the Ultramax software, better production models were obtained and mold tooling became more efficient and cost-effective.

87% of solder paste C(sub pk S) exceed 2

Article Abstract:

Plexus Inc. established its quality assurance program on the QI Analyst software from SPSS Inc. With statistical process control introduced into the manufacturing process, Plexus trained its employees on the production line with its use and enabled the company to increase its output of printed circuit boards (PCB)as well as branch out into other PCB based products. Quality of the products at Plexus in terms of C(sub pkS) values for solder paste has improved to an index of 2 for 87% of the parts.

Water-based paint reduces hazardous emissions by 50%

Article Abstract:

Mack Molding Co. reduced volatile-organic-compound emissions by 50% by using Polane 700T coating for its molded products. The water-based coating is designed for use on structural foam or injection-molded plastic or treated steel. It provides a high-quality finish that is as durable as two coatings of solvent-based paint. Polane 700T also offers good resistance to chemicals, solvents and color changes.
