Avoid common pitfalls when using Henry's law

Article Abstract:

Henry's law is used for process designing in chemical engineering, but the significant non-linear temperature dependence of the Henry's constant is often ignored. Estimating this dependence using vapor pressure, as well as other potential problems to be avoided such as partitioning of substances within the aqueous phase due to reversible equilibrium processes and units of measurement, are discussed.

The dilemma of mars sample return

Article Abstract:

This article examines the controversy surrounding space exploration experiments and the attendant risk of introducing alien organisms to our planet and vice versa. A case in point is planetary contamination by the Mars sample return. A 10-step protocol is described for returning Martian samples to Earth.

Solve problems inventively

Article Abstract:

The methods, basics of techniques and tools of problem solving using the theory of inventive problem solving (TRIZ) method are explained in detail. The TRIZ method encourages engineers to approach any problem from a different angle.
