Building in a regulated environment

Article Abstract:

Development professionals face an ever-increasing number of different federal, state and local environment regulations because of mounting concerns relating to ecologic factors. A number of key federal laws and regulations affect builders and developers with many state and local governments enacting similar legislation. a scrutiny of these laws in relation to development projects would help builders and developers save a considerable amount of time and money from the design phase of the projects.

Building a Consortium for Advanced Positioning System

Article Abstract:

A new real-time 3D positioning system that directly interacts with CAD software was developed in only two years due to the creation of the Consortium for Advanced Positioning Systems (CAPS) and pooled efforts and resources of its members. CAPS was formed in Dec 1992 by academics, private companies and non-profit organization initially to look for ways to advance some new positioning technology to a commercial stage. The system quickly gained industry-wide acceptance through CAPS' efforts.

Engineering and construction: building a stronger global industry

Article Abstract:

Frequent rating activities for engineering and construction companies have been influenced by industry changes and developments. Such changes include the growing utilization of project finance and the strengthening consolidation within the industry. Furthermore, credit rating agency Standard & Poor's claims that the trends could lead to enhanced stability and improvement on company performances.
