Can laser triangulation help you?

Article Abstract:

Laser triangulation has evolved as one of the most efficient means of conducting dimensional inspection. The technique, which integrates the benefits of noncontact inspection and optimal submicrometer resolution, offers robust results when gauging fragile, measuring etched-metal parts, probing laser-printer drums and inspecting integrated circuits. Laser triangulation works by calculating the height of objects by allowing light to be reflected onto a pixelized-array detector. This concept may be used in assessing product quality or conducting product assessments.

Automated pouring saves $1 million

Article Abstract:

Indianapolis, IN-based Chrysler Foundry has installed four LaserPour automated pouring systems from Southfield, MI-based Selcom Inc. to replace its old 'teach-in' pouring method. The company has achieved better control of its molten-metal-pouring rate since the systems were installed. Under the old 'teach-in' method, molten metal pouring is controlled manually by an operator.
