Casting goes green and economical

Article Abstract:

Japanese steel maker NSK's new lubrication system uses an oil and air mixture in place of the traditional grease lubricant, in a continuous casting plant. The oil/air mix uses only 5% of the oil used in grease lubrication systems, which reduces both the costs and the environmental impact. The system requires less labour for maintenance procedures and the life of the ball bearings is doubled. The company was able to introduce the new lubricant mixture because of the new system's ability to monitor lubrication levels within the bearings bank.

Integrated control pushes up accuracy

Article Abstract:

Robert Bosch's new control system for hydraulic applications endow radial piston pumps with more power, speed and accuracy. Electronic controls directly influence pressure and position, and can compensate for leakage. The technology has a range of possible applications including injection moulding machinery and the cylinder drive component of machine tools.
