Ceramic valve is a smooth operator

Article Abstract:

Compair Maxam's Isomax DX01/DXP01 range of valves promise long-lasting, trouble-free operation. The valves incorporate a ceramic seat and slide. These elements prevent the accumulation of foreign particles and endow the valve with extreme longevity. The valve will work over 100 million cycles in air with no lubrication. The company, which claims that the 01 size is the smallest slide valve available, is developing even smaller 02 architecture which should be available in 1999.

Prototyping shows its metal

Article Abstract:

A rapid prototyping process being developed allows the fabrication of full dense metal parts directly from the raw material, eliminating intermediate stages. The process, the Laser Engineered Net Shaping (Lens), is based o controlled lasers that change air-blown metallic powders into custom parts and manufacturing moulds within hours. It reduces the time and cost of producing functional metal parts.
