Chip smells with ionic mobilities grating

Article Abstract:

Owlstone has come out with a technology that allows multiple chemical species to be detected by a small, chip-based device that also has potential use in air conditioning and fire detection systems. Chip-based detectors can also detect illegal substances on the breath of motorists, or substances produced by diabetes, cancerous tumors or heart disease.

Safe piezoelectric valves control chemical gases with precision

Article Abstract:

Servocell and Diamond H. controls has jointly developed a piezoelectric valve that is applicable to precise control of any kind of gas, including process chemical gases and air, in which it is possible to increase flow rates and further reduce costs. The valve body is made of aluminum and is suitable for controlling gas flow in domestic boilers.

Waves provide a clean blow to energy saving

Offshore Wave Energy Ltd. has succeeded in obtaining energy from the air trapped and compressed between the crests. The company uses wave power in deep waters since shallow water waves may dissipate their energy by the time they strike and company officials are confident their product will do well despite expected competition.
