Consider custom synthesis during pharmaceutical R&D

Article Abstract:

Some pharmaceutical companies use custom synthesis, which refers to the use of an external contract manufacturer, to obtain sufficient supply of chemicals for their research and development. Although using a contract manufactuer has several benefits, it also carries special demands. To ensure a successful custom synthesis, drug companies must be able to select the right contract manufacturer, establish good relations with the toller and provide an effective technology transfer.

Improving wastewater pH control

Article Abstract:

The success of the biological, physical and chemical treatment of wastewater depends on the achievement of desired hydrogen-ion concentration (pH). To effectively implement this task, a pH-control system that was designed based on the rational analysis of flow, pH and titration data from samples drawn during the periods when the pH fuctuates the most should be employed.

Processing low-rank coal into a viable energy source

Article Abstract:

Silverado Green Fuel, Inc. has created a hydrothermal treatment process that converts low-rank coal into a more favorable energy source. The resulting product is called low-rank coal-water fuel, or Green Fuel, which is a low-cost, environmentally safe alternative to heavy oil. The process and its application are discussed.
