Control biofouling in evaporative cooling systems

Article Abstract:

Chlorine, sodium hypochlorite, bromine, chlorine dioxide, ozone are some of the oxidizing biocides that are commonly used in replacing gaseous chlorine for controlling the biofouling of evaporative cooling systems. Their nonoxidizing counterparts are metabolic inhibitors including isothiazolin, BNPD, DBPNA, glutaraldehyde, methylene bisthiocyanate and dodecylguanidine hydrochloride. The antimicrobial agents are usually combined since it is more effective against a broader spectrum of microorganisms.

Effectively control reverse osmosis systems

Article Abstract:

The proper instrumentation and control of major process variables in reverse osmosis (RO) systems are presented. The simplest form of RO systems control involves the adjustment of only two variables - membrane inlet pressure and reject flow rate. A case study on the effective implementation of control on a fully-automated two-stage, double-pass RO plant is presented.
