Article Abstract:

Developments in technology have resulted into the so-called knowledge age which is turn will affect industries including the quality control profession. The factors which will contribute to the success of businesses in the knowledge age include corporate vision, focus on values, focus on customers, process control, teamwork and quality engineering. Members of the quality profession must also act accordingly by realizing that the various facets of management are evolving into different paths.

The principles of quality control should be shared with individuals and organizations alike. Several technologies such as expert systems, relational databases, groupware and electronic books, can help speed up this knowledge transfer. Furthermore, an adaptive knowledge system can be designed through the application of the fundamentals of adult learning theory. Quality experts and organizations play a crucial role in this process and increased collaboration among them is encouraged.
