ECA marketing trends survey
Article Abstract:
A survey by the Electrical Contractors' Association (ECA) found that nearly half of ECA membership is located in the north west, north east and greater London regions, representing about half the aggregate turnover. Most were optimistic about gaining more work during 1995. More than half of the work undertaken by ECA members is in the private commercial and industrial sectors and there has been a major rise in work for the utilities. Several members have entered into the areas of desgin and installation of office automation systems or telecommunications.

What's happening to cable prices?: the issue of cable pricing is one of the most contentious in the electrical industry at present, with vociferous differences between contractors, wholesalers and manufacturers
Article Abstract:
Cable prices have been rising with an increase in the most commonly used cables of 50%. Contractors have complained that prices have been rising so fast that they cannot be allowed for in even short contracts, particularly fixed price contracts. Manufacturers say that the price increases are due to the huge rises in raw material costs, although wholesalers claim that they have not passed on all the price increases from the manufacturer.
