EMIS business to expand

Article Abstract:

BTI Consulting Group of Boston, MA has predicted that the environmental management information systems (EMIS) market will grow from $4 billion in 2000 to $6 billion in 2005. The firm revealed that most of the growth is expected to be in professional services, as clients expect EMIS suppliers to provide both environmental and information skills. In addition, the firm revealed that companies have increased their EMIS expenditures to help boost their environmental performance and lower costs.

Microturbine shipments surge

Article Abstract:

Primen, a Madison, WI-based energy market intelligence company, has reported that shipments of microturbines increased from 300 units in 1999 to over 1,200 in 2000. In terms of total electrical capacity, the shipments represent a growth rate of 400% as the average capacity of each unit rose to 45 kW in 2000, up from 36 kW in 1999. In addition, the company predicted that manufacturers are expected to deliver a minimum of 3,500 units to a maximum of 5,500 units in 2001.

Polypropylene demand to grow strongly

Article Abstract:

Global consumption of polypropylene will rise an average of 8.3% per year until 2004, according to Philip Townsend Associates. The consulting company predicts that there will be an increase of 13.5 million metric tons in worldwide polypropylene demand for the period from 1999-2004. Asia/Pacific and Western Europe are expected to pace the upsurge in polypropylene demand.
