Flomerics has upgraded its CAD package for design engineers. Flotherm V2.0's features include shaded graphics and four-view drawings, plus object-oriented programming. The software has the unique facility to simplify models so that fluid flow analysis runs faster. Meanwhile, Computational Fluid Dynamics has launched its new computational fluid dynamics software Star-CD Version 3.05. The package has the facility to achieve high accuracy in automatically generating meshes.

High quality computer monitors are increasingly popular in design businesses. A wide range of monitors are available at varying costs. The hardware manufacturer Datapath of Derby sells a single PCI slot plug in card which splits a Windows operating system environment across two monitors. Each monitor works at a resolution of 2560 by 1024. Monitor manufacturer Iiyama sells a range of 17 and 21 inch monitors.

Models find themselves a fix: new software converts and repairs 3D CAD files

Article Abstract:

FEGS, software developer, has introduced its CADfix Version 3 model repair utility package for converting and repairing 3D CAD files. Models can be processed in any form, including STL files. The package is being used by companies including Rolls Royce, DuPont, Allied Signal and Ford, and is available in both NT and Unix versions.
