Article Abstract:

The Electrical Contractors Association marketing study of 1996 found that the role of electrical contractors had expanded into many new sectors of operation in the United Kingdom such as fitting building management systems. The study has been carried out every two years since 1985 and in 1996 some 23% of the companies issued with a questionnaire sent a reply. Around 52% of electrical work was undertaken for the private sector although work from government sources had increased for 4.3% in 1994 to 7.3% in 1996. Some 97.8 million pounds sterling was spent on electrical work for the Utilities.

Norman's conquest

Article Abstract:

Norman Critchlow, the new chief operating officer of electrical contractor Drake and Skull says that after a period of consolidation in the 1980s the company is focusing on its core business. Critchlow, who worked in the US for a decade as Amec, plans for Drake and Skull, which is a subsidiary of Emcor, to expand into Latin America, Asia and Africa, targeting the growing transportation market.

Collaborative engineering: a case study of Concurrent Engineering in a wider context

Collaborative Engineering (CE II), which refers to the application of concurrent engineering (CE) in a wider context, is a management and engineering philosophy of the future. CE II aims to prevent existing misconception regarding concurrent engineering. It also assist engineering firms attain full benefits associated with implementation of CE, such as overcoming market pressure.
