Effectively troubleshoot dry vacuum pumps

Article Abstract:

Dry pump application problems can be solved through proper installation and operation. Most of the problems stem from the dry pump's being impproperly operated, incorrectly installed or misapplied. They include liquid carryover, common exhaust headers, pumping of chemicals that are already solid at room temperature, installations with poor-quality cooling water or cooling fluid and high inlet-gas temperature appplications. Knowing how a given pump operates and how it responds to the problems is the key to solving them.

Assess the performance of positive-displacement pumps

Article Abstract:

Testing rotary pumps in the field is difficult to carry out due to limited instruments available, and existing calculations involve Newtonian fluids only . How to evaluate rotary pumps, particularly vane, lobe, multiple-screw and gear designs, is discussed. Key pump terminology, types of positive displacement pumps, and testing methods and instruments are also given.

Troubleshoot and optimize chiller performance

Article Abstract:

Controlling the steam pressure and properly working out the costs can optimize the performance of the Steam Jet Ejector (SJE) water chiller. In order to troubleshoot an ailing SJE water chiller, the boosters must be run at a higher motive steam pressure, possibly 30 % higher than needed.
