Expanded fields lead to more stable capacitive sensing

Article Abstract:

A range of capacitive sensors, called the 'High Performance'sensors, improves sensitivity and stability, by using novel electrode arrangements that expand their working fields, combined with novel electronics. An advantage of the improved stability is that the sensors are unaffected by damp and can work efficiently through a sheet or two of glass or a build up of powder on the inside of a window.

Sensors get smarter for users

Article Abstract:

Technological developments in engineering sensors since 1992 largely relate to applications. Companies have also developed products in response to environmental and safety needs. For example, innovations include: radar level sensors; fibre optic colour sensors; miniature commercial pressure sensors; exterior liquid level sensors.

Sensor sees all fields with precision

Article Abstract:

A description is presented of the design and construction of an inexpensive, highly sensitive, small sensor which is able to measure magnetic fields. The system combines a field-effect transistor with the Hall effect.
