Experiments uncover source of valve failures

Article Abstract:

Fluoroware Inc, a manufacturer of plastic trays, tubing, fittings, pipes and valves for semiconductor companies utilized Design Expert 5.0 design-of-experiment (DOE) software when it needed to design an experiment for its valve failure project. With the DOE software, the company discovered two assembly factors which significantly affects the life of the valves. Moreover, two of the valve designs were superior to the third and the valves failed faster in two particular environments.

Electronic support cuts training time

Article Abstract:

Electronic performance support systems (EPSS) enable firms to reduce costs of training newly-hired employees. EPSS integrates the power of on-the-job training, job aids and access to company reference materials as well as providing workers the right resources and decisions when performing a task. The same job support to newcomers can be transmitted over networks, enabling other employees on different locations to access the program.
