Madness in the method

Article Abstract:

The extreme simplicity which has been one of the principal theoretical attractions of Enlightenment myths has played an important part in making possible the extraordinary success of the physical sciences. However this simplicity is also the myths' chronic weakness in that it has resulted in distorted ideas of what science is. Pandit Nehru was one of many scientific prophets who expected science to provide a better ethic. The way in which people have been treated strictly as objects by experts who claimed that they were being scientific and objective has contributed to an anti-science feeling.
