Creating an atmosphere

Article Abstract:

Ventilation is extremely important in hotels and restaurants. Mechanical ventilation systems are an efficient means of solving the problems of stale and humid air. When choosing a system, the first point to consider is whether a fan unit should be axial or centrifugal. Axial fans are recommended if the exhaust is directly through a wall or window. Centrifugal fans are the option if the exhaust is into ducting. Guidelines for electrical contractors specifying and installing ventilation equipment in hotels and restaurants are presented.

The 20,000-strong Chinese community of Mauritius recently took the spotlight from their well-off Franco-Mauritian compatriots when the World Chinese Conference was held at the Mahatma Gandhi Institute in Moka. Chinese in Mauritius have been greatly responsible for a healthy Mauritian economy with their success in the Export Processing Zone and the conference served to celebrate their heritage. The World Chinese Conference certainly reflects an upsurge in overseas Chinese nationalism.
