Trading places

Article Abstract:

Australian electrician David Rowe was given the opportunity to work in the UK for 4 weeks, through the Big Brother Movement which arranged a placement for him with London-based firm CJ Bartley. The placement was part of a prize for winning a scholarship which also provided him with a grant of 4000 Australian dollars. Rowe's fist assignment was to assist in a 35,000 pounds sterling re-wiring of a 3.5 million pounds sterling house. Rowe throughly enjoyed his stay in the UK but claims working regulations are fairer in Australia.
