Article Abstract:

The new Tricycle Theatre is a 1.7 million pounds sterling project, partly funded by a lottery grant and party by donations from stage and screen stars. The contract for installation of m&e services was awarded to FW Cook, a mechanical and electrical contractor. Lighting was designed by Light & Design Associates and includes neon, fluorescent asymmetric floodlights, and concealed fluorescent luminaires. A 240 V static inverter powers the emergency lighting.The comfort cooling system in the main cinema area includes supply and extract air handling units and a standard outside air compensation lthw heating system was installed throughout the building.

Computer software producer Visual Technology has developed a 3D modelling package for the construction industry. The Sonata building modelling system allows for the creation of a 3D image on a screen that depicts the completed building. The software allows contractors to identify all the building services and highlights problem areas so that solutions can be formulated before building work starts.
