Firms commit to cut greenhouse gases

Several major international corporations have teamed up with the US advocacy group, Environmental Defense, to form the Partnership for Climate Action, which aims to further combat climate change. The partnership intends to champion market-based mechanisms as a way to achieve early and credible action on reducing greenhouse gas emissions that is effficient and cost-effective. The companies, which joined the partnership, include BP, Shell International, DuPont and Suncor Energy Inc.

New semiconductor gases group

Article Abstract:

Johnson Matthey of Wayne, PA, has established a Gas Processing Technology unit within its Catalyst and Chemicals Division to focus on the needs of the semiconductor industry for the purification of a wide range of gases for wafer fabrication. The unit will initially offer the well-established palldium membrane hydrogen purifiers, and will eventually offer purifiers for argon, oxygen, helium, ammonia and specialty gases.
