Flatten the pyramid and speed product development

Article Abstract:

Horizontal communications and cross-functional teamwork within a business enterprise can hasten a product's time-to-market in product improvement projects. Product development and commercialization are hindered by traditional organizational structures that present maze-like hierarchies. Ample time should be given to assemble the project team, and team meetings must promote membership participation. Manufacturing and marketing departments' assistance should also be sought. Finally, everyone should be properly motivated and committed to the project.
