Novel support system reduces camera vibration

Article Abstract:

A camera support system called 'Frankencam', which could be controlled remotely by joysticks so as to reduce camera vibration, is developed to film tiny insects in the undergrowth. Variations of the system like 'Antcam' for filming ants and 'Guppycam' for filming underwater, are made up of simple linear motion systems, DC motors and worm wheel reduction aluminium gearboxes, but integrated by unique mechanical connections and pivot points.
