Three years after the signing of the Kyoto Protocol, the international treaty intended to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, some of industry's top executives have given information about their attitudes. old guard critics in industry are more and more on the defensive, and the Global Climate Coalition, an industry group known for skepticism on warming and intense lobbying efforts against legislated controls, has backed off a bit. Companies which have dropped out include Ford, DaimlerChrysler, Royal Dutch-Shell, and Dow. The Pew Center for Global Climate Change, a more moderate group, and supporting companies, are discussed. The chemistry of life on Mars

Article Abstract:

A 1976 Viking Lander experiment found possible signs of life on Mars. A call for reevaluation of the data has gained some support, with the key issue the possibility that organic compounds may be on Mars, despite negative gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy (GC-MS) findings. Assertions of Gilbert Levin, who designed the only biological test to detect what might have been life on the Mars surface, are discussed.
