Human issues influencing the successful implementation of advanced manufacturing technology

Article Abstract:

The failure of about 50% to 75% of the advanced manufacturing technology implentations initiated in the US is primarily attributed to improper handling of human aspects. A study reveals that such implementations require top management commitment to succeed. The so called technological champion which has top management support must also have sufficient knowledge to appear credible to workers. A regression model has been developed to serve as guide during the various phases of the implementation process.
