Implementing quality one class at a time

Article Abstract:

Total quality management (TQM) in an educational setting involves a process of empowering students to be responsible for their own learning. A professor decided to implement TQM in one of his classes with the aim of improving the learning process of students. The course chosen was Manufacturing Processes which covers areas of operations management such as reliability, quality control, planning and scheduling, as well as inventory management. The principles of customer satisfaction, employee involvement and instructor commitment, among others, served as basis for improving the course.
