Improving construction methods: a story about quality

Article Abstract:

Contractors can utilize total quality management concepts (TQM) and partnering methods to enhance jobsite performance and improve the management of construction projects. TQM accommodates support processes associated with various project factors and conditions, including subcontractors, materials, site conditions and location, and administration tasks. Partnering allows firms to to promote teamwork while resolving technical and contractual concerns based on the owner's needs, priorities and wants.

Implementation of TQM in building design and construction

Article Abstract:

Workshops on TQM were conducted by the Iowa State Construction Engineering faculty and the Quality Management Division of the American Society for Quality Control. Discussions were made on the various methods where TQM could be implemented in engineering, design and construction. A theoretical model for the said plan was developed by participants.
