Improving energy efficiency around the world

Article Abstract:

Christina Galitsky, staff research associate in the International Energy Studies Group at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBL), has done work involving energy efficient technologies such as the development of the Benchmarking and Energy and Water Savings Tool (BEST) Winery model which helps wine manufacturers reduce energy cost. Her professional life and other projects are also discussed.

Taking it to the next level

Article Abstract:

The Society for Biological Engineering (SBE), celebrating its third anniversary, created the Consortium for the Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO) Cell Genomics in January 2006. The CHO Consortium has raised $2 million dollars in research funding, and has 1,900 members. Other organized orojects of the SBE and its new projects are discussed.

Remembering Bhopal - local section sponsors chemical process safety conference to commemorate Bhopal's 20th anniversary

Article Abstract:

The Philadelphia Chemical Engineering Community is organizing an educative conference on chemical process safety on December 2, 2004. The information on the Bhopal tragedy and the improvements in process safety will be imparted at the conference.
