Article Abstract:

The Russian scientific establishment is in chaos following the demise of communism and the lack of finance. This has resulted in many scientists seeking overseas employment. During the communist era Russia had the largest scientific establishment. It was organised into 3 pyramids: the applied research establishment managed by the defence ministry, which received 70% of government funding; the research universities and the academies of science which included the Academy of Sciences of the USSR and provided the best research despite only receiving 15% of government funding.

Martin Engineering discovered that the Visual PDM product-data-management software from Insight Solutions, can provide users on the shop floor with quick, easy acess to bills of materials, CAD drawings and work instructions. The system can read bill-of-material information from the ERP database and maintain live connections that automatically upgraded the information when the database changed.
